Who we are
This website belongs to The Barber Lounge, Alexander Fleming 11a, Limassol, Lemesos 3012, Cyprus. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
Legal name of the business owner / data controller: to be confirmed by the business
This policy explains what information the website and our booking messages involve, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have.
What the website does — and does not — collect
The website has no contact form and no customer accounts. Apart from remembering your cookie choice, it stores nothing in your browser unless you accept analytics (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
Booking and product requests. When you choose a service, a date and a time — or press “Request this item” on a product — the website prepares a message and opens it in WhatsApp on your own device. The website itself does not send or keep this message. Nothing reaches us until you choose to press Send in WhatsApp.
When you do send it, we receive what WhatsApp shares with any business you message: your message (for a booking, the service, date and time you chose), your WhatsApp name and phone number, and anything else you decide to include.
Calls and messages. If you phone us or message us on Instagram, we receive the information you give us in that conversation.
Technical information. Like every website, visiting it means your browser connects to the servers that deliver it. Those servers — our hosting provider and the third-party services listed below — receive technical data such as your IP address, browser type and device information, as part of delivering the page.
How we use your information
- To reply to you, and to arrange, confirm, change or cancel your appointment.
- To answer questions about our services and whether a product is in stock.
- To keep the website working and secure.
We use your booking messages because you asked us to arrange an appointment or answer a request (steps taken at your request before providing a service — Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Technical data is processed for our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Website analytics rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics (Google) to understand how the website is used — for example which pages are visited and whether the booking, WhatsApp, phone and Instagram buttons are used. Analytics only runs if you press “Accept” in the cookie notice. If you press “Decline”, or make no choice, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google Analytics.
When you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies on this website (named _ga and _ga_X46R2CDB1M) and receives information such as the pages you view, the buttons you use, your browser and device type and your approximate location. We have switched off Google signals and ad personalisation. How long this data is kept depends on the data-retention setting of our Google Analytics account.
Your choice is remembered in your browser. You can change it at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; declining removes the analytics cookies.
Third-party services
The website relies on these services, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:
- Website hosting — hosting provider — to be confirmed delivers the website and receives the technical data described above.
- Google Fonts (Google) — the website’s typefaces are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address.
- Google Analytics (Google) — only if you accept analytics in the cookie notice (see above).
- WhatsApp (Meta) — used for booking and product requests when you choose to send a message.
- Google Maps — only if you open our location or directions link.
- Instagram (Meta) — only if you follow our Instagram link.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, under the safeguards they apply to their own services.
How long we keep information
We keep booking and request messages only for as long as we need them to manage your appointment and respond to you. Retention period: to be confirmed by the business
These messages are held in our WhatsApp and Instagram conversations. You can ask us to delete them at any time (see below).
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict, or object to, how we use it;
- receive information you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
You can also complain to the data protection authority in Cyprus, the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection (dataprotection.gov.cy).
